Let's Talk Fishing in Baja

Working with Mexico on governmental and business levels is one of the Sportfishing Association of California’s priorities, and this past weekend’s Let’s Talk Hook-Up show at Ensenada’s Hotel Coral let listeners in on what’s going on in terms of cooperation and relations with our neighbors to the south.

Guests on the show included the Mayor of San Diego, the Chairman of the San Diego Port Commission, a City Council Representative, the President of the San Diego Port Tenants Association, the Director of Sportfishing for Baja California, the Director of International Affairs for Baja California, Tim Ekstrom co-owner of the long range boat Royal Star, and the dock master of the Hotel Coral.

This was an effort to continue to work with Mexico on a government and business level to improve cooperation and relations—and let recreation anglers hear the opinions of leaders on both sides of the border. One of SAC’s many goals is to continue in the effort to build good relationships throughout the region for the benefit of all who we work with.

Listeners were able to ask unfiltered questions, and the feedback has been that the blend of having the Mayor of San Diego and the Director of Sportfishing in Baja as well as the Director of International Affairs made for an excellent show.

Border access, the tourist relationship between San Diego and Mexico, and what has already been an excellent season off Northern Baja were some of the talking points.
