Pacific Island Biosphere Development

The Pacific Island Biosphere (PIB) is in simple terms all of the islands off the Mexican coast on the west side of Baja California. The PIB is scheduled to be created as a protected area in 2011. This will include Los Coronados Islands, Cedros Island and Todos Santos Island. CONANP is the Mexican  government agency that will oversee the development of the management plan for each of the islands.

The Association will be involved in the development process from the standpoint of a stakeholder. The Mexican Government has been doing a good job of including everyone in the development process and in the information meetings. The Association will be attending each of the meetings and will post developments as they occur.

Update: Still no word as to when this Biosphere will be created.
